American AI cloud major CoreWeave (Nasdaq: CRWV) has announced its entry into India through a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar collaboration with AdaniConneX, the Adani Enterprises–EdgeConneX joint venture.
Under the deal, CoreWeave will take up 240 MW of AI data-centre capacity as the sole tenant across three 80 MW buildings at AdaniConneX's Taloja campus in Navi Mumbai, with an option to add another 240 MW — taking the potential footprint to 480 MW. The campus will deploy the NVIDIA Vera Rubin platform, with the first phase expected to go live in mid-2028.
The announcement, made on October 7, 2026, marks one of the largest single AI-infrastructure commitments in India to date. CoreWeave will also open an India office and hire locally, and the company said the collaboration supports the government's IndiaAI Mission.
India has become a magnet for hyperscale AI capacity, with global players racing to lock in power-ready sites. For Indian founders building on AI, the arrival of a dedicated AI-cloud provider like CoreWeave could eventually translate into more GPU choice and keener pricing than the general-purpose cloud duopoly.
Why it matters for founders
GPU access is the bottleneck for every Indian AI startup — CoreWeave's 240 MW bet on India signals that serious AI-cloud capacity, and possibly serious price competition, is on its way.
