Core4 Engineers debuts on the BSE SME platform on 30 October 2026, after its Rs 54.82 crore IPO — an entirely fresh issue of 58.94 lakh shares — was subscribed 5.44 times. The listing is a bright spot for startup funding in India through public markets, where infrastructure suppliers are finding demand that venture rounds alone cannot provide.

Strong demand across categories

The issue, which opened on 23 October and closed on 27 October 2026 at a price band of Rs 88-93 per share, drew bids across all categories. Non-institutional investors led with 12.26 times subscription, qualified institutional buyers (excluding anchors) subscribed 5.06 times, and individual investors 2.72 times, according to The Economic Times. The lot size was 1,200 shares, with retail investors applying for a minimum of two lots, or Rs 2,23,200 at the upper price.

The business going public

Incorporated in June 2014, Core4 Engineers is an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning company serving railway infrastructure, power transmission and distribution, and water and wastewater treatment, and it also makes high- and low-tension distribution panels. Total income rose to Rs 92 crore in FY26 from Rs 35 crore in FY25, while profit after tax tripled to Rs 12 crore from Rs 4 crore. Of net proceeds of Rs 44.60 crore, Rs 4.12 crore will fund land and a building for a new manufacturing facility and corporate office, and Rs 40.48 crore will meet incremental working capital needs. Socradamus Capital was the book-running lead manager.

Why it matters for founders

Core4's listing shows the SME board rewarding profitable, contract-led businesses with real order books — its FY26 profit tripled before listing. For founders weighing venture versus public money, the lesson is timing: list on demonstrated earnings, not projected ones.
