Chennai-based skincare brand CHOSEN has raised an undisclosed amount in an extension of its Series A round from Wellbeing Nutrition founders Avnish Chhabria and Saurabh Kapoor. The round was announced on 28 October 2026, as part of a busy week for startup funding in India in consumer brands.

Founded in 2020 by Renita Rajan, CHOSEN makes skincare products formulated for Indian skin. The brand sells more than 50 products, which it says over 2,000 doctors prescribe — a distribution channel that sets it apart from purely influencer-led beauty brands.

The fresh money will go into research, new skincare and nutrition products, and clinical studies. That last item matters: in a market crowded with claims, clinical evidence is becoming the dividing line between brands that doctors recommend and brands that merely advertise.

CHOSEN earlier raised a $5 million Series A led by Fireside Ventures. An extension from strategic founders, rather than a new lead investor, suggests the company is deepening its existing relationships while it builds evidence and range, rather than raising a large new round at a new valuation.

For consumer founders, the CHOSEN story is a case study in channel choice. Doctor prescriptions are slow to earn but hard for competitors to copy, and they compound: every prescription is both a sale and a recommendation.

Why it matters for founders

In beauty and wellness, trust is the product. Clinical studies, doctor recommendations and honest formulation claims cost time and money, but they build a brand that survives the end of an advertising cycle — invest in proof before you invest in reach.
