The Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP), together with Ashraya Hastha Trust, has selected 11 biology-driven startups for its climate solutions programme, with funding support of up to Rs 50 lakh per startup. The first cohort was announced on September 29, 2026 at a C-CAMP sustainability meeting and reported in early October.
The startups span climate-resilient healthcare, agriculture and environmental sustainability. Among the named ventures: Genepath Diagnostics, building an open PCR platform for tropical pathogens; Prodancy, working on a reusable surgical biomedical waste system; and AeroDel, developing respiratory monitoring for pollution and heat stress. C-CAMP director-CEO Taslimarif Saiyed said the cohort represents deep-science-led innovations tackling climate change across agriculture, food security, public health and sustainability.
Biology-led climate innovation is one of the hardest categories to fund — timelines are long, validation is slow, and the science risk is real. Programmes like C-CAMP's matter precisely because they combine non-dilutive capital with deep-science mentoring and lab access, bridging the gap between a research breakthrough and a fundable company.
Why it matters for founders
If you're building deeptech in climate, health or agri-biotech, grants like C-CAMP's Rs 50 lakh can fund the validation work that equity investors won't touch yet. Watch these cohort programmes: they're often the first public signal of which deep-science themes are about to get serious follow-on capital.
