Bling Capital is a high-conviction seed-stage venture firm founded in 2018 by Ben Ling, a former general partner at Khosla Ventures who previously held product leadership roles at Facebook, Google and YouTube. “Bling” has long been Ling’s nickname among colleagues and friends. The firm’s governing belief is simple and operator-flavoured: “The hardest thing in seed is finding product market fit. We help you find it. Then we help you scale.”
Rather than scattering small cheques, Bling concentrates capital behind a select few founders and then works alongside them on product-market fit and scaling — the classic high-conviction model, with follow-on firepower reserved through dedicated opportunity funds. Its signature differentiator is the Product Council: more than 100 top executives from major technology companies advising portfolio companies. Alongside its fourth fund, the firm has been adding advisors from Notion, OpenAI, Scale AI and Stripe.
Bling is an active pre-seed and seed investor with a presence in San Francisco, New York City, Seattle, Austin and Miami. Its stated sector focus spans AI, SaaS, Consumer, Mobile, Marketplace, FinTech, Data, Automation and Frontier Tech.
Bling’s fund size is publicly disclosed. In November 2024 the firm closed its fourth flagship fund at $270 million, with about half earmarked for an opportunity fund reserved for follow-on investments in breakout winners. The previous fund, closed roughly two years earlier, was $212 million in total, split nearly evenly between a new seed fund and an opportunity fund. When Ling first launched the firm in 2018, he filed to raise up to $60 million for the debut fund.
The portfolio on the firm’s website includes Palantir (NASDAQ: PLTR), Instacart (NASDAQ: CART), Lyft (NASDAQ: LYFT), Square, GitLab (NASDAQ: GTLB), PagerDuty (NYSE: PD) and Lime, alongside Airtable, Rippling, Gusto, Webflow, Quora, Lucidchart, Merlin Labs, Vise, Hermeus, Grata (acquired by Datasite), Veho and and Amae Health. Ling’s personal angel record underpins it: an early backer of Airtable, Lyft, Square and Palantir, with around 19 unicorns to his name, and the firm says it has invested in 170 companies in its first six years.
The firm is led by founder and general partner Ben Ling — early Facebook director of platform (2007–2008), then roles across Google, YouTube and as COO of Badoo before joining Khosla Ventures as a general partner in 2013, where he backed GitLab and Webflow. He has been ranked on the Midas Seed List every year it has been published, most recently at #4/#5 in 2023 and 2024. His partner Kyle Lui joined from DCM, where he was a partner, and has notched at least seven unicorns, including DocSend and Hims.
For founders, Bling runs a Fellowship for aspiring founders who have not launched a product yet — a structured path from “zero to one”. The main ongoing perk is the Product Council itself: advisory access to 100+ product and growth leaders from the industry’s biggest companies. Cloud or vendor credits: not publicly disclosed.
Why it matters for founders
Bling Capital is a rare combination: seed-stage focus with genuine follow-on firepower, an operator-led founder who has sat on both sides of the product table, and a built-in brain trust of 100+ executives through the Product Council. If you are raising pre-seed or seed in AI, SaaS, fintech or consumer and want an investor who rolls up their sleeves on product-market fit rather than just writing a cheque, Bling deserves a place on your target list.
