BITKRAFT Ventures is a global early-stage venture capital firm that invests where physical and digital worlds converge — a space it calls Synthetic Reality. Founded by games industry veteran and entrepreneur Jens Hilgers in 2017, the firm focuses on Seed, Series A and Series B investments across gaming, interactive media and immersive technology, with team members across Europe, North America and Asia.
The thesis
BITKRAFT describes its core thesis as Synthetic Reality: video games, gaming technology, Web3 and AI are driving a unification of the physical and digital worlds, and those who back the right startups will benefit from a shift that could upend today's media conglomerates, tech giants and social networks. It invests across game studios, gaming infrastructure, applied game mechanics, immersive technology and Web3 gaming — backing both the companies producing games and the platforms underneath them. The firm says it partners early, sometimes when a company is no more than an idea.
Fund and stage
In April 2024, TechCrunch reported that BITKRAFT had raised its third fund at $275 million to back seed and Series A gaming studios and platforms, at a time when games investment had declined sharply year on year. The firm said its strategy is to back 30 to 35 companies per fund at an average ticket size of about $4 million, reserving 50% of capital for initial investments and 50% for follow-on rounds, and that it was rated top decile in the latest Cambridge Associates ranking. The firm states that it manages more than $1 billion in assets and has backed over 130 companies. Its LP base mixes family offices and institutional funds, and includes a major global sportswear player, per TechCrunch.
Portfolio highlights
Portfolio companies BITKRAFT has publicised include Frost Giant, the studio founded by StarCraft veterans building the real-time-strategy title Stormgate; in-game advertising platform Anzu; Africa-focused mobile gaming platform Carry1st; social platform InWorld; martial-arts league Karate Combat; and Immutable, creator of the Gods Unchained crypto-based game. For Indian founders, the relevant signal is that BITKRAFT is actively investing in India: in August 2025, Moneycontrol reported that the firm led a $5.4 million pre-seed round in GameRamp, an AI platform that helps video games and consumer apps scale and monetise, alongside Mixi, South Park Commons and DeVC — with BITKRAFT's India and UAE partner Anuj Tandon on the deal. GameRamp expanded its engineering and applied-AI teams across Bengaluru and San Francisco with the round.
People and programs
The firm is led by founder Jens Hilgers, who brings three decades of gaming-industry thought leadership, and operates through a global team rather than a single headquarters. It runs an active content platform for founders, and founders can pitch directly through the contact form on its website — the firm says it reviews every submission. There is no rolling accelerator programme; the model is a conventional venture fund that writes early-stage cheques into gaming and interactive-media ecosystems, with particular appetite for studios, infrastructure and AI applied to games.
Why it matters for founders
If you are building a game studio, gaming infrastructure, or AI and Web3 tooling for interactive media, BITKRAFT Ventures is one of the few global funds where gaming is the entire thesis rather than a side bet. Its India activity — led most recently by the GameRamp pre-seed round — means Indian gaming and game-tech founders have a live on-ramp to a fund that writes early cheques and reserves half its capital for follow-ons.
