BharatPe has launched Agentic AI, a 24x7 intelligent assistant inside the BharatPe for Business app, built with the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform on Google Cloud. The announcement came on October 16, 2026, right in the middle of a festive season that industry reports say has pushed consumer demand to a five-year high.

The assistant combines voice and chat-based support in the merchant's preferred language – Hindi, English, Hinglish and regional languages – and, crucially, can take action across more than 60 live BharatPe systems in real time, moving beyond answering queries to actually executing tasks, following up on requests and flagging issues.

Startup funding India news: agentic AI reaches the kirana level

Festive demand in 2026 has surged across consumer durables, automobiles and apparel, and merchants face more customer interactions, payment queries and service requests than ever. BharatPe's pitch: a multilingual agent that uses business context – screen activity, interaction history, previous support tickets – to give merchants personalised, proactive help instead of a ticket queue.

The launch sits alongside a broader trend of fintechs embedding agentic AI into merchant workflows, where the moat is not the model but the integrations: sixty connected systems means the agent can act, not just advise.

Why it matters for founders

Agentic AI is leaving the demo stage and landing where ROI is measured daily – merchant operations. For founders building AI for SMBs: voice-first, multilingual and deeply integrated beats generic chatbots. The winners will be agents that complete tasks inside existing business software, not agents that live in a separate app.
