Arzan Venture Capital is a Kuwait-based early-stage venture capital firm — one of the earliest VC firms to start in the MENA region, investing in young, fast-growing and innovative tech teams since 2014. It is led by Founder and Managing Partner Hasan Zainal. While some of its investments are global, every one carries a MENA angle, letting the firm work closely with founders on regional expansion.

Thesis and cheque size

Arzan invests at Seed and Series A, with typical tickets of $250,000 to $2 million. Its focus sectors include fintech, e-commerce and edtech, though the portfolio stretches across consumer, enterprise, logistics, foodtech, healthtech, gaming and media. The firm describes itself as one of the earliest venture capital firms to start in the region, working closely with founders whose ambitions span MENA and beyond, and states its commitment as building long-lasting relationships with the region's most talented entrepreneurs and investing for success. Its fund size has not been publicly disclosed.

Portfolio and exits

Arzan's portfolio reads as a roll-call of regional champions. It backed Careem (acquired by Uber in 2019 for $3.1 billion) and Tamatem, the leading mobile games publisher in MENA. Its exit roster includes POSRocket (acquired by Foodics in 2022), Wrappup (acquired by Voicea in 2018, subsequently by Cisco), MUNCH:ON (acquired by Careem in 2022), REEF (iKcon, acquired in 2021), Fatura (acquired by Tanmeyah in 2022), Crowd Analyzer (acquired in 2024), Cartlow (acquired by Basatne in 2025) and Bidvine (acquired by Bark in 2021). Active and recent portfolio companies include logistics platform TruKKer, DTC jewellery brand Mejuri, last-mile software firm Onfleet, luxury resale marketplace The Luxury Closet, SME banking platform Hala, e-commerce platform Zid, warehousing provider Khazenly, accounting platform Qoyod, AI hiring platform Elevatus, fintech Lucky, card-issuing platform Connect Money, fresh-food delivery startup Haseel, healthcare fintech Klaim, vehicle-history platform CarSeer, loyalty platform Gameball, sales-automation firm Repzo, FMCG AI tools maker Clymb.ai (formerly Retailo), edtech Classcard and subscription-billing platform Subsbase. Other names on the firm's books include loyalty specialist Merit Incentives — whose network spans more than 5,000 brands in over 100 countries serving more than 20 million users — children's mealtime brand Citron, sold in more than 49 countries, plus Nearpay, MoneyFellows, Yasmina and Yamm.
