Arkam Ventures is a Bengaluru-based VC firm founded in 2020 by Rahul Chandra, the former co-founder and managing director of Helion Venture Partners, and Bala Srinivasa, a former partner at Kalaari Capital. Its defining conviction is the "Middle India" digitisation thesis: backing tech-led businesses serving the next 400 million Indians rising into digital consumption.

Investment thesis

Arkam believes India's digital rails — UPI, eKYC, Aadhaar — have opened a generational opportunity to reimagine how essentials reach the middle of the pyramid. Rather than chasing startups that serve the top of the pyramid, the firm partners with non-consensus founders: product-first outsiders with lived insight into the problems they solve. A second pillar is "SaaS from India to the world." The approach is deliberately concentrated: no more than six to eight companies a year, each backing treated as a decision to go all in rather than a bet.

Sectors & stages

Arkam invests from seed through Series B, usually leading or co-leading rounds. Its current sector lens covers consumer AI, enterprise AI, fintech, deeptech, manufacturing, logistics, agritech and cleantech. The historical core is financial services, skilling, food and agriculture, healthcare, mobility and SaaS; the second fund added manufacturing technology and electric vehicles.

Fund size & cheque size

Fund I reached a final close of $106 million in April 2022, backing 16 startups. In June 2023 Arkam launched Fund II with a target corpus of $180 million, to build a 20-company portfolio and write larger early-stage cheques for meaningful stakes. The firm's own website states its range: $1–5 million cheques from seed to Series B, lead or co-lead. At launch the entry band was reported at Rs 10–20 crore, with room for larger follow-ons. The LP base includes British International Investment, SIDBI, Evolvence and Quilvest alongside US institutional investors and family offices.

Notable portfolio companies

The portfolio spans fintech names Jar, KreditBee, Wint Wealth, TransBnk and Spense; spacetech standout Skyroot Aerospace; SaaS companies SpotDraft and Signzy; food and agritech companies Jai Kisan and Jumbotail; skilling startups Smartstaff and CUSMAT; plus Mirana Toys, Ringg AI, Optimist and Smallcase.

Partners & team

Founders Rahul Chandra and Bala Srinivasa both serve as managing directors, with roughly two decades of venture investing experience in India between them. Company announcements in mid-2026 also recorded Vishnuhari Pareek's promotion to chief financial officer — a two-time founder formerly at Simplilearn and ClearTax — as the firm strengthened its leadership team.

Programs run

Arkam runs no public accelerator or batch programme. Instead it operates a portfolio advisory function for organisational design, go-to-market strategy, finance and operations — hands-on help with pricing, hiring, GTM and board dynamics.

Credits & perks

Not publicly disclosed. There is no publicly listed credits or perks package for Arkam portfolio founders.

How founders can approach them

Founders can reach the firm through its website, arkamvc.com. Arkam looks for outliers with conviction and clarity: self-belief over borrowed frameworks, product-first thinking, execution fanaticism. Its "foundation-first" approach rewards founders who take governance, organisational design and unit economics seriously from day one. With only six to eight deals a year, a crisp articulation of why your insight is non-consensus matters more than slideware.

Why it matters for founders

If your customer is the next 400 million Indians coming online — or a global SaaS buyer reached from India — Arkam is a specialist backer that leads $1–5 million rounds, stays with you from seed to Series B, and measures itself by how concentrated its attention is, not by how many logos it collects.
