Amicus Capital Partners is a Bengaluru-based private equity firm that invests in high-growth middle-market companies in India. Set up by experienced PE professionals Sunil Theckath Vasudevan and Mahesh Parasuraman, the firm describes itself as an India-dedicated early growth capital fund, focused on businesses that have a proven model and are ready to scale into segment or category leaders.
The thesis: proven models, capital efficiency, category leadership
Amicus is selective about where it plays. Its official investment philosophy targets companies with a proven business model, high growth and the potential to lead their segment — with a strong emphasis on capital efficiency. Its focus sectors are financial services, consumer, pharma and healthcare, technology and business services, and specialty manufacturing. The firm says its approach goes beyond capital: it supports entrepreneurs and management teams on business strategy, inorganic growth, operational development, governance, technology enhancement and organisational development.
Fund track record and backing
The firm has raised two funds. Its second fund, Amicus Capital Partners India Fund II, achieved a final close at $214 million (around Rs 1,800 crore), exceeding its original $200 million target. Total assets under management now stand at $302 million. One of the notable investors in Fund II is India's quasi-sovereign National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF), which committed Rs 207 crore (about $25 million) — a strong signal of institutional confidence in the firm's middle-market strategy.
Portfolio: fintech, consumer and manufacturing scale-ups
Amicus has invested in more than a dozen companies, and the names show a clear pattern of backing category builders. The portfolio includes insurtech platform RenewBuy, kitchen appliances maker Wonderchef, Altum Credo Home Finance, Capital Small Finance Bank, caffeine-based personal care brand mCaffeine, two-wheeler financier Berar Finance, customer-engagement SaaS platform moEngage, logistics-tech company Pickrr, work-fulfilment platform Awign and molecular diagnostics firm Rivaara Labs. The firm also led a Rs 2.25 billion ($27.5 million) investment into Aequs, the aerospace and consumer-goods contract manufacturer — the company's first-ever round of external funding.
Why it matters for founders
Amicus is built for founders who have already proved their business model and now need a partner to scale efficiently. If your company is capital-efficient, growing fast and has a shot at segment leadership in financial services, consumer, healthcare, tech services or specialty manufacturing, this is a firm that speaks your language. With NIIF and global institutions on its roster, it brings not just money but governance and operational muscle for the middle-market journey.
