Startup funding in India keeps finding mental healthcare: integrated mental healthcare firm Amaha said on October 23 that it is set to close a ₹100-crore fundraise, backed by existing investors Lightbox Ventures and Fireside Ventures alongside London-based Sandbox International Holdings Ltd, PTI reported.

A blue-chip cap table for mental health

The round also saw participation from Nithin Kamath (through Rainmatter) and the family offices of Shreyas Shibulal (son of Infosys co-founder S.D. Shibulal), Ashish Bharat Ram (chairman and managing director of SRF) and Bengaluru-based entrepreneur Adarsh Jalan, with ₹10 crore in debt financing from Alteria Capital rounding out the raise, per The Economic Times.

Founded in 2016 by psychiatrist Amit Malik, who serves as CEO, Amaha provides integrated mental healthcare across digital self-care, outpatient and inpatient treatment, operating nine centres across Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR and Mumbai. The fresh capital will be deployed to expand its hospital and clinic network in key cities, strengthen clinical teams, and invest in technology and systems for quality specialist care.

"Our focus now is on deepening our clinical expertise and further building the infrastructure and systems needed to make evidence-based specialist mental healthcare accessible to more individuals and families across India, while maintaining high quality of treatment," Malik said.

Why it matters for founders

A ₹100-crore raise with Lightbox, Fireside, Rainmatter and three family offices is a strong signal that India's mental-healthcare market is moving from apps to brick-and-mortar clinical depth. For healthtech founders, Amaha's playbook — integrated care plus physical centres plus digital — is the model serious capital is now backing.
